Shackerley project recognised by the Facade Awards 2022
One of Shackerley’s projects – the Allam Diabetes Centre in Hull – has achieved a Highly Commended Certification in this year’s Facade Awards; the prestigious awards programme operated by RCI magazine.
The project was entered for the awards by Zenith Developments and Shackerley’s partner, Kingspan Facades (https://www.kingspan.com/gb/en/products/architectural-facades/ ). The facade was installed using Shackerley’s SureClad® ceramic cladding system in a highly polished Arctic White colourway, providing a clean, hygienic aesthetic, with a reflective, clinical appearance. Our SureClad® ceramic cladding system was installed as part of a complete facade solution by Intex systems, creating a facade that provides ease of maintenance and a lasting quality finish for the new healthcare building, which will not discolour or fade due to weathering, pollution, U/V or algae. A Full summary of the project is available on the Kingspan website: https://www.kingspan.com/gb/en/case-studies/allam-diabetes-centre/
The award ceremony was held at the Midland Hotel in Manchester in November and we were delighted to see one of our projects recognised at the event.
Brian G Newell MBE, founder and CEO of Shackerley commented: “The Facade Awards are a highlight in the calendar for our industry, recognising the most innovative, complex and technically demanding projects in the sector.
“The Allam Diabetes Centre project leverages both the properties of our high quality SureClad® ceramic system and the installation benefits of our Queen’s Award winning SureClad® patented Access fixing system to deliver a project that is eye-catching, hardwearing and low maintenance.”
Located close to the motorway network, Airview Park will provide 175,000 sq ft of bespoke offices. Shackerley has provided SureClad® large format ceramic cladding panels for two of the first buildings to be completed at the new development. For the latest project, the Shackerley SureClad® ceramic cladding system has been installed in a creamy beige colourway across a total facade area of 110m2, creating feature entrances and eye-catching contrast for the facade. Previously, Shackerley’s engineered stone SureClad® panels were installed as a goal post feature for both the front and rear facades of a major UK housebuilder’s HQ.
For the most recent project, the SureClad® facade system was recommended by Task Contract Services Ltd (http://www.taskcontracts.com), the cladding installer on the project, who have used the Shackerley SureClad® ceramic facade system on a number of previous cladding installation projects. The company recommended the ceramic cladding system because Shackerley SureClad® facades have robust certification for fire safety, impact resistance and seismic testing, ensuring the safety of the facade installation throughout the lifespan of the building, and complete peace of mind for both developers and occupiers.
The Shackerley SureClad® ceramic porcelain facade system is also impervious and unaffected by UV light, ensuring it keeps its high-end appearance throughout the service life of the facade. Shackerley ceramic porcelain facade panels also have excellent resistance to freeze/thaw conditions, and to algae, graffiti and airborne pollutants, preventing damage or discolouration to the facade.
The large format 1200 x 600mm ceramic cladding panels have been installed using the Shackerley SureClad® Hang On fixing system. The result is a stylish, contemporary facade for a prestigious commercial location.
The use of the Shackerley SureClad® facade system as both ceramic and engineered stone cladding for two projects on the Airview Park development demonstrates the variety and flexibility within the Shackerley range.
