Ceramic facade and limestone cladding for prestigious office building
Shackerley’s SureClad® cladding systems have been installed as both an exterior facade and an interior cladding solution at a prestigious office development in Glasgow
The office building at 177 Bothwell Street is part of the second phase of the Bothwell Exchange development, and both the SureClad® ceramic facade system and SureClad® limestone cladding panels were specified for the project. The two SureClad® non combustible cladding systems were selected as part of a high-end specification that reflects the future-focused ethos of the project, which has a ‘Platinum’ WiredScore certification, ensuring future occupiers will have the best connectivity available, and was designed for an EPC ‘A’ and BREEAM ‘Excellent’ rating.
Shackerley’s SureClad® ceramic facade system was specified for the vertical columns at ground floor level of the exterior facade in a polished black Basilicata colourway. The ceramic cladding was installed using the Shackerley SureClad® Access mechanical fixing system for an exterior facade area of 294.21m2 , creating a sleek, elegant ground floor facade for the glazed tower. The lightweight ceramic cladding system provides a Euroclass A1 rated non-combustible facade solution for the commercial development. The ceramic cladding panels also provide a low-maintenance facade system for the prestigious office building, with excellent resistance to graffiti, algae, U/V and freeze/thaw conditions.
For the interior facades of the building’s high specification reception area, Shackerley’s SureClad® natural limestone cladding system was used, providing a high quality, tactile interior finish. A creamy white genuine limestone SureClad® natural stone cladding system was chosen for the 78.48m2 interior facade area. Shackerley’s SureClad® Hang On mechanical fixing system was used to install the large format 1200 x 600 natural limestone cladding panels, most of which were just 20mm thick , with 30mm thick panels used in areas where additional thickness was required to bespoke engraved signage, which was also fabricated by Shackerley.
All cladding panels for both the exterior facade and the interior installation were UK manufactured at one of Shackerley’s ISO 9001 certified factories in Lancashire and delivered direct to site, with full traceability.
The project demonstrates the flexibility of facade systems from Shackerley and the suitability of SureClad® cladding systems for use as luxury specification features in prestigious developments.
