Shackerley is a Double Facades Awards Finalist

Shackerley is a Double Facades Awards Finalist

Shackerley’s SureClad® and BrickClad® facade systems have both been recognised by the Facade Awards, with two of our projects being named as finalists in the 2026 shortlist. In the ‘Best use of a Rainscreen using Glass Ceramic or Stone’ category, our SureClad® Porcelain Stone facade system has been recognised for the Hertfordshire Police HQ building in Welwyn Garden City, where it was installed as part of £55.5m project.

We manufactured a total of 8,900 facade pieces for the 4016m2 SureClad® Porcelain Stone facade, which was installed by A2O Facades as part of a Willmott Dixon project. Designed by architects Vincent+Gorbing, the 9750m2 police headquarters building features a SureClad® Porcelain Stone facade in a creamy beige colourway, using 1200 x 600 x 11mm large format panels. The specification was part of a quality-driven specification for the BREEAM Excellent project, which has been designed to ultra-high sustainability standards and is targeting WELL Platinum Certification. A section of our SureClad®️ support system was even used to create a ‘guest book’ for topping out delegates during the construction project, creating a permanent memento of the use of our facade system.

In the ‘Best Use of a Brick Slip Cladding System’ category, our BrickClad® mechanically fixed brick cladding system was recognised as part of the Vaux Housing Neighbourhood project at Riverside Sunderland. Installed by Certa Roofing & Cladding, our BrickClad® facade system was specified in both red bricks from our BrickClad® Saxony range, and specially produced glazed green bricks, which complement the riverside location and the development’s focus on sustainability and green spaces.

Our BrickClad® brick cladding system was installed on a total facade area of 2234m2, with the glazed green bricks utilised for a 1447m2 area, and the remaining 784m2 completed using the BrickClad® Saxony red bricks. The project was completed using our SureClad® primary support system and our BrickClad® Magnelis steel cassette rails, which are made in-house at our ISO 9001 certified factories in Lancashire.

The Echo Street student accommodation project under construction in Manchester by Bowmer + Kirkland has also been shortlisted in the awards, including in the ‘Best New Build – Large Residential Project’ category. This project features our SureClad® SureStone® cladding system on facade areas totalling 1357m2 , with 766 large, installation-ready facade panels and 521 reveals prefabricated at our factories using 423 raw slabs of SureStone®.

These projects are the latest in a long line of Facades Award successes for Shackerley. Last Year the Animate leisure complex in Preston was a winner, featuring a Shackerley SureClad® facade that included two variants of our porcelain stone, along with a large area of our SureClad® quarried stone, Our BrickClad® Multi-Rail system was also shortlisted last year in the ‘Most Innovative Product of the Year’ category. In 2023, our Royal Warwick Square project with Berkeley Group (St Edward) won the Best use of a Rainscreen using Glass Ceramic or Stone category. The awards offer prestigious recognition for manufacturers and installers and the winners for 2026 will be announced in November.
