Testing & compliance
SureClad® ventilated façade systems
SureClad® systems comply with all relevant British and European standards and CWCT standards for systemised building envelopes and have been subjected to extensive in-house
and third party testing (at UKAS accredited test houses). They have been successfully installed on many large residential projects where NHBC has assessed performance to be
compliant with its technical requirements.
The SureClad® Access system and SureClad® Hang On system both have BBA certification which extends to cover the use of certain ranges of ceramic
granite façade panels (please contact our Technical Team for further details). All manufacturing and assembly operations are carried out in a quality controlled
environment in Shackerley’s ISO 9001:2015 accredited production facilities.
UKAS accredited testing
Our SureClad® ceramic granite and engineered stone façade systems have been rigorously tested for the UK market by CERAM Building Technology and The Vinci
Technology Centre, (the largest facility of its type in Europe)
Every component has been subjected to testing, both individually and as an integral part of the overall system. The programme included:
- Extensive wind loading tests (positive and negative)
- Rain penetration tests
- Hard body impact tests
- Soft body impact tests
- Pull-out tests on Keil undercut anchors
- Shear and bending tests on the metal components
- Shear and pull-out test on the fixing screws and rivets.
Testing for other materials including quarried stone can be organized on a project specific basis.
In-house testing
Shackerley has the expertise and in-house facilities to carry out hard and soft body impact and pull-out strength testing in accordance with our ISO 9001 accreditation
to ensure that the UKAS laboratory defined standards are maintained and achieved during the manufacturing cycle.
Testing for overseas markets
To enable Shackerley to export to US and Canadian markets, the SureClad® Access System has been subjected to an extensive series of architectural and
engineering assessments at the Philadelphia HQ of Architectural Testing Inc, a leading test house conducting structural performance test methods as established by AAMA,
ASTM, SPRI, Miami-Dade, CCMC Technical Guides, and ICC-ES Acceptance Criteria for building code compliance.
These tests, more demanding than any required in the UK, demonstrated the suitability of the façade system for installation in regions prone to earthquakes, hurricanes
and other climatic extremes.

Access System being subjected to seismic and hurricane testing at Architectural Testing Inc.
Fire resistant cladding materials
One of the paramount concerns for any façade construction method is fire safety. Shackerley offers various fire resistant façade panels which can be mounted in conjunction with its SureClad® ventilated façade systems.
SureClad® ceramic granite for façades is certified fire resistant to Class A1 when tested to BS EN13501-1. (On panels fitted with safety mesh backing, the mesh complies with EN13501-1 A2-s1-d0).
SureClad® quarried stone for façades complies with BS EN13501-1 Class A1 without a requirement for testing according to European Directive 96/603EC and BS EN 1469. (On panels fitted with safety mesh backing, the mesh complies with EN13501-1 A2-s1-d0).
SureClad® terracotta for façades complies with BS EN13501-1 Class A1 without a requirement for testing according to European Directive 96/603EC and BS EN14411:2016. (On panels fitted with safety mesh backing, the mesh complies with EN13501-1 A2-s1-d0).
SureClad® engineered stone for façades is certified fire resistant to Class A2 when tested to BS EN13501-1.
